Valentines Day 2010 - Trip to Mother Marys Shrine, Nagamangalam

Valentine's Day. We decided to visit Mother Mary's Shrine at Nagamangalam. Attended morning mass at Holy Eucharist Church and then left for the shrine on the Activa. Ria was not in the best of moods to travel and slept off half-way. But then we stopped at a farm with a little calf and she was wide-awake. I managed to photograph a beautiful bird while we waited there for Ria to finish playing with her friend.

On the way we met Parthibhan from Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) on his bicycle. He was on his way from Bangalore to Kanyakumari and then back to Bangalore via Kerala.

Wished him luck and reached the shrine. As it was a Sunday there was a huge crowd at the Shrine. After drinking the Holy Water we had lunch and then started our journey back. Managed to capture the kingfisher and some other birds. I need to brush up my knowledge regarding birds if I continue this habit of bird-watching.

It was a good way to celebrate Valentine's Day.

Now for the route to Nagamangalam:

From Bangalore to Hosur. Turn right at Victoria Hotel. Take the Hosur-Rayakottai road till you reach J.G. Farms.

Thanks Daryl. Your route description helped us to reach the Shrine. Some more tips to other travellers are: You can see the J G Farm sign board approx 1km after a level crossing. The mass on Sunday is at 11:30AM and 3:30PM. To collect holy water cans are sold at the premises. Tea, Snacks, some food is avaliable at the premises after 10:00AM on Sunday( Not Good Quality).Advisable to carry own food, water and snacks. Once again thanks a lot Daryl. God Bless you and your family...
